Lyrics
POWER
(Written and Composed by Michael Drive)
You were once the small ones in your struggle to be free
But I guess your instinct killed them all to gain their territory
The strong ones came and helped us, to claim our independence
Then we came to their rescue, when they were against the fence
But so it is with power… the more you get, the more you need
It feels good to be the rich man, with the grovelers at your feet
But when invincibility turns to vulnerability
Don’t you think that September was a clue to… what you do with…
POWER, POWER
POWER, there’s POWER… for everyone
You have done a lot in just 200 years
No one can deny your drive, your blood, sweat, and tears
But when your pride goes to your head from out of your chest
You’ve got blinders to the whole world, as if you’re “better than the rest”
And the rest of the world feels this attitude from you
Why do you think they hate you?
No country in the world has been a saint
We cover up our guilt and selfishness in the freshness of the paint
But if we work together, is that not better off?
Then many less will suffer, and be much better off
I’ll take my drive and fervor, and allow myself to say
I don’t pretend I don’t see, I’ll give some of it away,
POWER, POWER
I’ll prosper in this world still, that doesn’t just revolve around me
I’ll unbury this land-fill, and give a little bit of honey
Maybe you don’t think it will happen again
And I hope not, but you will have forgotten by then
The age of domination; let’s throw it out the door
For the age of true friendship must be restored… and that’s-
POWER.
