Michael Drive was born to French speaking parents in Los Angeles, California, and at the age of 16, picked up a guitar and began learning. His first song was written 3 months later, and it would be the beginning of many to come. While still living at home, Barren Cross was formed in 1983, and they recorded albums and toured until 1995. They never officially broke up, but Michael began to experiment with music and also performed on other albums. In 2000, Michael moved to Europe where he bought a motorhome, transformed it into a recording studio, and began touring throughout France and Germany, where he recorded his new music with musicians that he crossed on the road. He also performed concerts wherever he was at the time; setting up 3 guitars on stage and doing his 2 to 3 hour "Evenings of Acoustic Bliss". In 2003, Michael's recently formed group of French rock musicians was invited to perform a concert for Live television, filmed in Paris, France and broadcast throughout Europe from Portugal to Russia. The result was “The Fastdrive Show – Live in Paris;” a raw and energetic film of songs from a dynamic and intense show! This was a kick-off to a 33 date tour in Europe, and this concert was liked so much, that the French capital television station decided to re-broadcast it every day for one month!
During the next several years, Michael would release more albums, and in 2008 would start working and touring with Chi Coltrane.
Fast forward to 2019, Gale Force was formed, which included DIO guitarist Tracy G in the line-up to record one album, collaborated with Michael Drive; “Subhuman.”
Then… the band “HUMAN CODE” was formed! Featuring Michael as lead singer, guitarist George Ochoa, drummer Terry "The Animal" Russell, and bassist Todd Libby. In Michael Drive’s own words: “I am more excited about HUMAN CODE and this album, than any other album at any other time in my career. My heart is deeply into this, and my emotions are more intertwined with these songs than ever. I have taken more time and care with my work as a composer, as I also have with the recording of my lead vocals, than ever before. This is definitely my favorite work that I’ve ever done, and I believe also my best work so far.”
