Chapter 15:
FEAR OF GOD; ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY FOR SALVATION:
The apostate church has taken away the fear of the Lord, because satan knows that it’s necessary, as a very real deterrent to sin, and for holiness in the Lord. With the fear of the Lord, it’s EASY to not sin! Much of the church today says; “God doesn’t want you to fear Him; when it says ‘fear’ in the Bible, it means ‘respect’ or a sense of ‘awe’,” they say. But in fact, when God talks about fear in the Bible, He’s talking about fear with trembling and shaking(!) and Paul the apostle says; “Knowing the TERROR of the Lord…” A sense of ‘awe’ or ‘respect’ does NOT make you tremble or shake in your boots! I feel a sense of awe or respect for many people, and for God’s creation; but I’m not afraid of them! There is a big difference between the fear that God is talking about, and the respect / sense of awe that’s being taught in the church today.
Ex. 20:18-20; When the people saw God’s presence on Mt. Sinai, and heard His voice, they were so afraid, that they said; “Let not God speak with us, lest we die!” And Moses said that God was doing this so “that His fear may be before your faces, SO THAT YOU DO NOT SIN.” This is obviously much more than a ‘sense of awe’ or ‘respect’, which is what the church is teaching today.
Matt. 10:28; “Do not fear them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Isa 29:13; “Therefore the Lord said, This people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and THEIR FEAR TOWARD ME IS TAUGHT BY THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.”
Jer.5:22; “Do you not fear Me? says the Lord, will you not tremble at My presence?”
Jer. 32:40; “I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will NOT depart from me.”
Isa. 66:2; “But to this man will I look, even to him that is poor, and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at My word.”
Psalms 119:120; “My flesh trembles for fear of you; and I AM AFRAID of Your judgements.”
Job. 23:15; “I AM AFRAID of Him.”
2 Cor. 5:11; “Knowing the TERROR of the Lord we persuade men.”
Psalms 111:10; “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who DO His commandments…”
Phil. 2:12; “…Work out your own salvation with FEAR AND TREMBLING.”
Psalms 2:11; “Serve the Lord with FEAR and rejoice with TREMBLING.”
